About Solemn Dolphin

Our Story

The name “Solemn Dolphin” is based on a true story of an incredibly resilient person Najib Nimah, who was dealt a difficult hand when it came to his life. Yet, his life journey unfolded as one full of strength, kindness, and spirituality.

Najib, a young and bright-eyed doctor, was served the most difficult news of being critically ill with cancer at the mere age of 17. And that marked the beginning of what later became one of the most inspiring journeys that have touched the lives of many. His earthly journey ended when he returned to his seat at the side of the angels at the age of 33, after three long battles with cancer.

Despite the health challenges Najib faced, he studied medicine and public health. He taught and was very active in supporting the needy via his work in UNICEF, the student’s medical society, and the scouts.

He was a role model of devotion, courage, determination, faith, enthusiasm, resilience, leadership, and humility. He spread love when it was scarce, uplifted the morals of many when they were faltering, aided those in need without being asked, and empowered countless individuals.

He was a living example of not being defeated by life’s challenges, of not losing hope, and of persistence in pursuing one’s dreams. He drew his strength from the spiritual life and guidance he got from his family and the monastery he used to go to.

Solemn Dolphin was Najib’s nickname as a scout’s leader, and it highlights a lot of his character.

As a family we could not find a better name than Solemn Dolphin for our publishing company.

This choice was made not only to keep Najib’s inspiring legacy alive but to also provide a living example for anyone facing very challenging issues … especially the youth.

The Author

Without even realizing it, Bassam Tabshouri found himself starting an epic journey right in the heart of the Lebanese Civil War in 1975. Imagine being just 19 years old and suddenly facing huge challenges, the kind that test every bit of your courage and strength, unlike anything else. In the whirlwind of chaos, Bassam wrestled with deep, life-changing questions, sparking a search for peace within himself amid the trials of university life.

After finishing his studies and stepping into the world as a Medical Engineer at the American University of Beirut Medical Center, Bassam got a front-row seat to the kind of suffering most people only see in headlines or hear about in stories far removed from their daily lives. He also stumbled upon a truth in his work life: while they were good at fixing bodies, they often overlooked the healing of the spirit, his own included. In those trying and uncertain times, finding a guiding light for those soul-searching questions was like searching for a needle in a haystack.

This awakening sent him on an extraordinary exploration of Christian spirituality and a treasure trove of religious wisdom from both Lebanon and the vast Middle East. Bassam didn’t stop there; he dived into the philosophies and sciences of both the West and the East, hunting for enlightenment and a sense of connection in the rich patchwork of human understanding. His quest was sprinkled with vibrant encounters across different cultures, through travels, conversations, and sharing his insights on global stages.

Years of looking inward, healing, and personal growth convinced him of a powerful truth: within the harshest challenges of life, there’s always a seed of opportunity to carve out a path of deep meaning and fresh beginnings.

This revelation birthed his masterpiece, “A Path Called Serenity” – not just any eBook, but a multi-sensory journey that blends art, music, spirituality, and the collective wisdom from corners far and wide.

He paints a picture of a journey from pain to purpose, a transition from being marked by wounds to being inspired by them, transforming scars into artworks of beauty and resilience.

With this transformative creation, Bassam offers everyone a set of keys to unlock their own paths, regardless of the hurdles or where they call home.
